“We have a fascination with personalities instead of policy, a desire to be entertained rather than enlightened, and a need to have an enemy to define us and give our lives meaning.”

You’d think the above statement came from a disgruntled Lebanese. In fact it’s from an American named Ken Swensen in a letter to the New York Times expressing frustration with the America of today.
