Lebanese ISF Gets Tough On Hezbollah

June 17, 2007 · Mustapha Hamoui

It seems the Lebanese Internal Security Forces are bent on arresting the Hezbollah members who had previously detained their colleagues.

Fanfare or real determination?

According to Annahar, the incident happened when the ISF were trying to track down 4 outlaws who took refuge in Dahieh. This then turned into a conflict with Hezbollah which resulted in the HA Militias rounding up the ISF members, disarming them and interrogating them for one hour.

Annahar’s “high ranking security source” revealed that Hezbollah eventually collaborated with the ISF to arrest the 4 men.

The source then gave away the juicy part:

???? “?? ???????? ??? ????? ??????? ?????????? ??? ????? ??? ???????? ???? ????? ????????? ???? ??? ???? ????? ?? ??? ?????.
???? ?????? ?????? ??????? ?? ????? ?? ?????? ??? ????? ???? ??? ??? ????? ?? ?????? ?? ????? ????????? ?? ??? ??????? ??? ??? ????? ?? ??? ????? ??????? ???????”.

Translation & Emphasis mine:

[the source] confirmed that the assault on the ISF patrol and those responsible for it will be pursued in order to arrest those envolved, and there will be no backing down from that objective. If the security committee of Hezbollah cooperates with the authorities, then no problem. If it didn’t, the security forces will not back down from arresting those responsible, which would be the duty of the security forces and the military judiciary.

Tough words indeed. It remains to be seen whether they have the balls to actually do it.
