But It’s Not Racism, It’s “Social Discrimination”

The PR spokesperson of the Sporting Club swimming pool has made what can only be described as an angry comment in response to the ongoing racism charges. He maintained that he’s “repulsed” by charges of racism and went on a pedantic tirade against Lebanese society in general.

This came after a mainstream television station, MTV, picked up the story that has been rolling on in the blogosphere for weeks, about a group of activists who had filmed a clandestine video showing a Sporting Club clerk preventing the activists from bringing along their maid to the swimming pool.

His defense strikes me as a rant of an old curmudgeon who’s trying to scatter away noisy kids. It moves clumsily between the “We’re not racist” and the “everyone else is a racist” arguments, and attacks the “kids” at Indy Act as disgruntled people who were rejected from the club.
