Hariri On Loyalty To Allies
August 24, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
P.M Hariri during yesterday’s Iftar:
I salute Mrs. Solange Gemayel who is with us today, in the anniversary of the assassination of President Bashir Gemayel, and we will always remain loyal to our allies who stood with us during all this period, especially the Phalange Party which witnessed the martyrdom of many of its members, particularly Pierre Amin Gemayel who was a brother and a friend to me
This can be seen as an act of defiance (or intransigence, depending where you stand). In light of the Saudi-Syrian umbrella, there have been calls from Hezbollah and its allies for the Future Movement to “review” its previous political stances and break up its alliance with parties like the Phalange and the Lebanese Forces.
Another sign that P.M Hariri and his Future Movement are not heeding those calls is yesterday’s appointments for the Movement’s senior seats, where, according to an angry Al-Akhbar article in page 1, the “Hawks” won.
