Does The Truth Hurt?

September 13, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

M.P. Jumblat apparently no longer wants to know the truth about the series of killings that took place in 2005 and 2006. Here’s what he told the French foreign minister Bernard Kouchner:

as much as justice and truth were important, the country’s stability is even more important

This is absurd. Remember how Mr. Jumblat and the March 14 leaders told us again and again that nothing can bring stability more than justice and the truth? That the killing machine that was historically the bane of our country will be dismantled once and for all when the truth is uncovered? That we shouldn’t sell out to fear and pursue the truth to the very end because it was the right thing to do? Hell even their campaign slogans were all based on “The Truth” and “Justice”.

There should be an asterisk next to everything Mr. Jumblat says that reads “I’m only saying this because there’s a gun pointed to my head”. Mr. Kouchner dutifully ignored him, and this is something even Mr. Jumblat’s closest friends are doing nowadays..
