The Economist Reports On Lebanon and The STL

November 11, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

Economist Cartoon on Lebanese affairs

Read the whole thing, but here’s the paragraph I find most interesting:

the man most widely believed to have orchestrated the killings is dead. Imad Mughniyeh, well known since being implicated in bombings and hostage-takings during Lebanon’s civil war, headed Hizbullah’s special operations forces, and was a key link to Iran’s Revolutionary Guard before his unexplained assassination in Damascus in February 2008. Curiously, the killings in Lebanon stopped abruptly at the same time.

This is the first time I read about a link between mughnieh’s death and the stopping of assassinations in Lebanon.
