Will The Lebanese Army Ever Use Tanks?

The Russians are giving us free Helicopters and tanks, so I guess a polite thank you is in order. But while I see the utility of helicopters, I can’t think of any scenarios where the Lebanese army could need heavily armored tanks like the T-72.

They are considerably less advanced than Israeli modern tanks and they will always be outnumbered by Syrian tanks, so their effectiveness in a classic military confrontation is in doubt. The tanks are also not designed for crowd control. They are heavy, slow and armed to fight other tanks, not people.

All this is to say that we will be stuck with heavy equipment that will just lie there and cost money and fuel. For what?
