In Lebanon, What Happens In Wikileaks Stays In Wikileaks
December 3, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
Many of the commentators here have noticed the total lack of reaction in the “real” political world over the wikileaks revelations. It’s like they don’t exist at all. It seems as if our politicians all live in glass houses and are thinking twice before throwing stones. Each side has constructed a neat image of the other in the minds of its supporters and they all seem to be colluding in not letting wikileaks mess with that.
I keep hearing about “major implications” to Mr. Murr and March 14, but the truth is, the entire wikileaks episode can be dismissed by the politicians as “Internet talk”. Just log into an aljazeera story about wikileaks and read the comments. Everyone acts as if the leaks were some sort of inconsequential conspiracy that the Arabs can see right through.
