American Activism On STL Continues

December 7, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui

The Americans are taking precautions against a potential Syrian-Saudi compromise on the tribunal:

[The American Source] told Asharq Al-Awsat that “in all the discussions that are taking place, we have forgotten that there was more than one victim, and Prime Minister Hariri was not the only one to fall victim to this crime, but there were others.”

Translation: Even if the Saudis and Syrians got premier Hariri to denounce the tribunal, that won’t carry enough moral weight to stop its work.

In other words, the Americans are saying: Good luck trying to get Amine Gemayel, Neyla Tueni, the Kassirs, the Hawis, the Ghanems, the Eidos and the rest of the victims’ families to denounce the STL’s work.
