Hacking News Websites Is Pointless And Stupid

I heard that Al-Akhbar was hacked by Saudi hackers. How dumb and pointless is this?

Hacking is the online equivalent of throwing a tantrum and storming out of a room. You let everyone know that you are angry and you don’t achieve anything because the website will eventually come up again and tell the entire world how the Saudis hacked it.

The end result: More people will visit the site, people will volunteer to help and everyone will see the hacker as a petty loser. The newspaper in turn will entrench its sense of victimhood and righteousness. I’m struggling to fight the lame conspiracy theory in my head that the hacker was actually a supporter of Al-Akhbar who wanted to frame the Saudis.
