A Note About the New Commenting System [Update: Old Commenting Restored]
December 24, 2010 · Mustapha Hamoui
Update: Apparently, many of you guys don’t like Disqus and some of you strongly dislike it. You say it’s a closed system and it’s too slow to load in a place like lebanon. So, sorry for the inconvenience. The classic commenting system is now restored.
I’ve been getting a lot of complaints from people who hated the Re-Captcha on the previous commenting box (you know that thing where you had to enter two words that at many times are very incomprehensible), but I still needed a way to keep away spam.
Disqus is a commenting system that has been spreading like fire at all major blogs, and for a reason. You can comment using your Facebook, Twitter and Yahoo accounts, or you can create a Disqus account once and use it every time and keep track of all comments you made on other blogs that use Disqus (TechCrunch, Mashable and Blog Baladi :) among others ).
The only downside is that I’m still trying to figure out a way to implement comment highlighting, which was a very cool way to pick up nuggets in your comments. If any of you can help me with that, I’ll be grateful.
