The Death Of The Saudi-Syrian Initiative

We thank the Saudi king and the Syrian president for the efforts they have exerted, although their initiative has ended with no results […] Opposition ministers will also meet this evening, and we are searching for a new exit with Suleiman and we will declare the result that we will reach. There was a telephone call between Saudi Arabia and (Syrian President Bashar) al-Assad, and after it he informed us that this issue has ended without results

Mr. Aoun’s announcement was confirmed by a special post on Al-Akhbar’s website entitled “The failure of the settlement” which claims that the Saudis admitted to a failure in persuading P.M. Hariri.
