❊ The Cynical Use Of The Phrase “The Unknown” ( المجهول )

January 12, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Today Al-Akhbar leads with a story entitled: “The Start of The Unknown”. Calling future disturbances “the unknown” is very disingenuous from the side that intends on causing havoc in the next few weeks.

No, it is not “unknown”, it is very well known. You have been planning this for the last few months. By calling it the unknown, you want to disown all responsibility for the unrest that will take place soon.

There is not a single reason why the indictment in itself will cause unrest. The only unrest that will happen will be the one that Hezbollah and March 8 are planning to wreak to prevent that indictment from taking place.

You want to somehow portray this as the result of American stubbornness, but it’s not, it’s the result of one party, drunk with power which wants to prevent the other party by hook and by crook from getting justice. This is not an “unknown”, this is the unleashing of one party’s vengeance on the other.
