“Waiting For Some Real Action”

January 12, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Louisa Ajami on how crises happen in Lebanon:

for those of you who might find all of this talk and posturing trifling and are waiting for some real action before you duck and cover, this is Lebanese politics: a whole lot of hot air being blown back and forth for months and months and months to the soundtrack of calls for action and threats of war, and nothing really comes of it until — BAM! — a war starts totally randomly, sending throngs of Lebanese to foreign consulates to see if they can finagle their way into a visa.

Of course some of this is tongue-in-cheek, but her point is a solid one.
