Why Does The Government Still Regulate Fuel Prices?

February 25, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Such antiquated measures as the government issuing weekly price schedules for fuel are one of the reasons why we’re having a fuel crisis today.

We are now in a situation where a political stalemate is causing an actual stalemate in the country, where fuel traders are refusing to equip filling stations with fuel because the honorable Minister Gebran bassil is striking a political pose.

I can’t believe I’m typing this, but a brave Lebanese government should do exactly what Iran did.
