Sudden Wave Of Crime Across Lebanon.
March 25, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui
Here’s a list of crime stories just in today’s and yesterday’s Daily Star:
- Masked men rob Syrians of $1,500 in Dbayyeh
- Thousands of dollars stolen in spate of robberies
- Bridal shop robbed of $10,000 worth of dresses
- More than 20 homes robbed in Zghorta
- Muggings, armed robbery and carjacking reported
- Search is on for kidnapped foreigners
I hate conspiracy theories, but all this is happening at a time when tension in forming the next government is strongest over the Ministry of Interior and on whether or not Minister Ziad Baroud (an ally of President Sleiman) is doing a good job.
M.P. Aoun who insists on dislodging Baroud will find the above data points very convenient to advance is case. I’m not accusing Mr. Aoun in person, but I see the meddling hands of malicious parties (internal and external) who want the government to be formed as soon as possible..
