Mikati’s “Backup Plan”

March 28, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

The Daily Star:

A source close to the Cabinet formation process told The Daily Star that if Mikati’s new government lineup was rejected, he would present President Michel Sleiman and the March 8 groups with “a de facto Cabinet lineup of 20 technocrats,” excluding politicians “because Lebanon cannot be left without a government for long.”

Also known as the “If Aoun doesn’t back off, I’m out of here” plan.
