Do Not Post About Syria. Do Not Post About Syria. Do Not Post About Syria.

April 15, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

As I’m watching the events unfold in Syria, I’m itching not to post about every development, every protest, every tear gas canister thrown and every Syrian activist viciously killed.

It’s not that I’m not excited for the Syrian people, but I’m taking a deliberate decision to keep a distance. I don’t want my blog to be used as proof that March 14 is “fomenting” the revolution in Syria. Plus I really want this to remain an internal Syrian affair in spite of the regime’s desperate attempts (assisted by a very convenient and cynical Al-Akhbar release of wikileaks) to blame the Lebanese for this.

As I previously tweeted, whatever happens in Syria these days could affect my life much more than anything else I’m doing right now. Nevertheless, I will try as much as I can to keep my peace and write about other things..
