The Borders Of 1967? Try 1948..

May 23, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Hamas, Fatah and Hezbollah are planning a big Palestinian march to the border similar to the one that took place on Nakba day:

“This march on June 5 will be for all Palestinians. Within the organizers, there will be Hamas, Fatah, other Palestinian [parties] and Hezbollah, […] The aim of this march is to send the Israelis a message, that the Palestinian people have said their word and decided to return to their borders of 1948.”

Just imagine how out of touch the two sides of the problem are with each other: On one hand, America and Israel are saying that a settlement at the borders of 1967 is too bold, unworkable and is giving the Palestinians too much. On the other side, a very big majority of Palestinians and Arab populations, many of whom newly empowered by the Arab spring, don’t even believe Israel as a Jewish state has a right to exist (I’m not talking about the cuckoos who want to ship Israelis to Europe).

Something will have to give eventually, and having the two sides in separate echo chambers is not helping..
