New Anti-Aljazeera Satellite TV Chanel to be Launched in Beirut

September 27, 2011 · Mustapha Hamoui

Al-mayadeen will be started by non-other than Ghassan Ben Jeddo, the disgruntled anchor who resigned in protest against Al Jazeera’s Syria coverage

According to its promoters, Al-Mayadeen will be a 24-hour TV station which intends on putting an end to Al Jazeera propaganda

Of course, many TV stations claim they want to counter Al Jazeera. But usually their rhetoric ends up being more talk than action, as no one has been able to match the combination of resources and talent that Al Jazeera has. Wanting to kill Al Jazeera is the Arab-TV equivalent of wanting to create an iPhone-killing phone.

Besides, Ghassan Ben Jeddo’s connections to Hezbollah, the Syrian regime and Iran will not exactly be a credibility booster.
